Exhibition at The Whitehouse Gallery, Scotland
Canvas & Clay II
EXHIBITION OPEN MON – SAT, 10AM – 4PM (CLOSING EARLY ON SATURDAY 24TH JUNE, AT MIDDAY)
Following on from the success of last year’s exhibition of the same name, The Whitehouse Gallery returns with a second offering. ‘Canvas & Clay II’ focuses solely upon paintings and pottery, finding harmony between both mediums in a carefully curated exhibition.
The Preview Opening is from 11am – 5pm on Saturday 29th April. All are welcome to attend, there will be complementary refreshments available. The exhibition will be on until midday, 24th June.
We welcome three new painters to the gallery, each with very different approaches to their work. Whilst Alison McNeill’s abstract paintings are an expressive, intuitive response to her surroundings, Angelo Murphy’s still life works are a nod to the Baroque painters of the 17th Century, but with a more contemporary twist. Jan Munro paintings come from her love of design, combining colours, shapes and mark making to create semi representational works which look beyond reality.
Award winning children’s illustrator Catherine Rayner returns with some of her sought after originals for this exhibition. Another artist who we are excited for the return of is Ann Armstrong, who is sending us a gorgeous collection of her Scottish landscapes.
Landscapes will also be on show by Madeleine Gardiner and Tricia Barna, whilst Andy Cross and Jane Blair will be sending a selection of landscape and still life paintings. Dumfries & Galloway based Kate Bentley SWA and Gwen Adair will also delight with collections ranging in style and subject matter.
Besides those already mentioned, we have brand new collections of ceramics from a range of potters, including Anastasia Hille, Anna Smyth, Brian Holland, Georgie Gardiner, Heather Armstrong, Karen Lainson, Rowena Gilbert & Sarah Piper.
I'm delighted to be part of this wonderful exhibition. I've worked with The Whitehouse gallery for 18 years now and they always put on a wonderful show in the beautiful town of Kirkcudbright. I have four original framed paintings available and on display. You can find out more on the gallery website here and view the works on my website here.
